A Closer Look: The Sustainable Design of GLO Yoga Studios
Hi everyone,
Welcome back to the GLO Yoga sustainability blog! I’m so excited to continue this journey by taking a closer look at something that makes our studio so special: the intentional, sustainability-focused design of our studios.
When we think about sustainability in the fitness or wellness world, we often focus on things like reusable water bottles or eco-friendly products. However, at GLO Yoga Studios, sustainability is also built into the spaces we move in every day through thoughtful and intentional design.
One of the most unique features of GLO Yoga is our use of infrared heat. Unlike traditional heating systems that warm the air, infrared heat warms the body directly. Not only does this create a more comfortable and effective practice, but it can also improve energy efficiency since it reduces the need to heat an entire room. It’s a great example of how wellness and sustainability can work together.
Another important part of the studio environment is air quality. GLO Yoga uses an in-wall UV-C filtration system to help keep the air clean and fresh. While this is especially important for health and safety, it also supports a more sustainable space by reducing the need for harsh chemical cleaners and improving overall indoor environmental quality.
Lighting is another important part of sustainable studio design. GLO uses linear LED lighting, which is significantly more energy efficient than traditional lighting and has a much longer lifespan. This helps reduce overall energy use while also minimizing the need for frequent replacements. In addition to its environmental benefits, LED lighting helps create a calming and intentional atmosphere that enhances the overall experience.
Material choices also play a role in sustainable design. GLO Yoga uses bamboo flooring, which is a rapidly renewable resource and a more eco-conscious alternative to traditional hardwood. The studio also prioritizes non-toxic finishes and adhesives, helping to create a healthier indoor environment. In addition, using durable, long-lasting materials reduces the need for frequent replacements, which helps minimize waste over time. Thoughtful decisions like this help reduce environmental impact while still creating a beautiful, calming space.
Sustainability at GLO goes beyond just the physical space. It is also reflected in how the studio operates day to day. From encouraging reusable products to partnering with more sustainable brands, these small shifts add up and reflect a deeper commitment to mindful living.
What I love most is that none of these features feel overwhelming or out of reach. Instead, they show how intentional design choices, both big and small, can support personal wellbeing and the health of our planet.
As always, thank you for being part of this community and for caring about creating a more sustainable future.
With gratitude,
Ava
